  • Pressing 0 on numeric keypad to RAM previews saves the project every time

Posted by Scott Green on May 22, 2013 at 11:17 pm

Has anybody had this problem where when you press 0 on the numeric keypad to RAM preview it shows “Saving Project…” in the info panel and starts saving your project every time you press it? It doesn’t start previewing until the project is saved when is really annoying.

What’s the problem? Does anybody know? And how can I fix it?

    Thanks.

Under the Memory and Multiprocessing preferences disable “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously”.

When you hit zero on the numeric keypad to RAM preview with this option enabled, the project is saved, then each process starts up and delays the preview.

Use the MM settings for M Processing for rendering, not for working. Apparently in After Effects CC this will be fixed.

As Ridley says, the background processes used by Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing feature need to each operate on a saved project.

In After Effects CC (12.0), there is a new preference that turns Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing on for rendering through the render queue but leaves it off for RAM previews.
