team, in the SDX 900, i can go under the advanced menu, select operation and go to white balance mode and manually raise or lower the preset white balance and give a warmer or cooler look.

How do you achieve this same effect with the varicam? i looked and looked in the menus and didnt see anything that looked like a preset white balance control. I mainly shoot on preset, due the fact that film does not have white balance, its either daylight or tungsten, so i try and discipline myself with that and light accordingly. but i do like to have the control to make it warmer or cooler by manually raising or lowering in increments. i hate using warm, cool cards. i cant get as precise.

    thoughts?

    Jamie,

Regrettably, the Varicam does not have the ability to adjust white balance in 100k increments like the SDX. I wrote Panasonic and suggested an upgrade, but apparently it is not possible. That is the best feature of the SDX!

I added the RGB gain to my user menus. I can color correct every scene on the fly… warm it up, or cool it down, while keeping the whites, white.
