  • Preserving Embedded Alpha Channel w/compressor – REPOST W/MORE INFO

I am reposting with more info to help detail my situation.

I need to compress about 500 files from HD to SD (animation codec in both versions) and I need to keep the embedded alpha channel so the files can be simple to use in the edit room (or I risk mutiny from editors if I need to give them separate fills/mattes).

I can’t find a way in compressor to keep the alpha channel. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I am looking for a batch compression option as I have too many files to do manually.

    Comp – Mac
    OS – Mac 10.5.8
    Software – Compressor 3.0.5
Source Codec – Animation (w/embedded Alpha)
Destination Codec – Animation (w/embedded Alpha)
Type of destination use – Files to be used in non-linear edits. (Avid and Final Cut)
