    Hello,
I have a question regarding aspect ratios and how to make sure that a finished project looks the way it is supposed to.
I recently finished editing a project that was shot in widescreen.
The project settings in Vegas and the way it was rendered were both NTSC DV Widescreen. By the way, I rendered as an AVI file.

When the AVI file was rendered, I used DVD flick to convert it into a file that I could burn onto a DVD.

I actually converted the file twice with DVD flick. I rendered it as a 4:3 and as a Widescreen. However, none of them look right.

The 4:3 version looks distorted. Like I said, I shot it in Widescreen, but the black bars are barely there and the video is stretched out.
The Widescreen version looks Widescreen, but it is fake. In other words, it is like a black mask has been put there to cover the lower and upper side of the screen.

What am I doing wrong? How can I make sure that the project will look the way I shot it?
    Thanks a lot!

Why are you using DVD flick? You can render to DVD Architect NTSC widescreen video stream, which is video only, the render again to .ac3 for audio only. Make sure both files are named the same except for the extension and in the same folder, then burn with DVD Architect? You can also render to DVD NTSC, then click custom, video tab, and select 16 x 9 Display, and burn this to DVD with any DVD burning app. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

Thanks, Danny! I will give that a try.
The reason why I was using DVD flick is because that is the program that I normally use to convert files into DVD files. It had never given me any trouble, until now.
    Thanks again,

    Jorge
