  • Preserving Aspect Ratio when outputting for Projection?

    Hey 🙂

Quick question – apologies if this information is already on here… I searched and couldn’t find it.

I am exporting a film that will be projected on a screen at the regular 1024×768 (4:3) size. I am exporting my film using Quicktime Conversion. I’m not sure if I should be checking the “Preserve aspect ratio” box. If I do check it, my film looks widened in Quicktime on my computer. If I don’t check it, my film looks normal. I know that the aspect ratio of my computer screen is different from the projector, so in theory my film should look wide on my computer screen. But I just wanted to check with you guys that I should be checking the box as I do not have access to a projector before my show and thus cannot test the results.

Thanks so much for your help!

I will be putting each film (each about 20-30 seconds long) into Modul8 (a live video mixing program). My computer will be hooked up via mini-DVI to VGA to a digital projector onto a large screen. I had some issues at my last show with the quality of my videos. I am not sure exactly which projector I will be using as it belongs to the people who run the venue.

    thanks!
