Hi. Just joined. Have to say great site!

I am currently working on a project (using AE CS2) which requires me to create content that is to be displayed vertically on an LCD screen (Digital Signage).

After searching the posts here (and throughout the web) I am still unsure of how to setup the project.

I can only think that instead of creating it in a 1280×720 aspect, I would reverse it to 720×1280, make and export the movies and then import it into a regular 1280×720 stage, rotate it 90 degrees and then export. (where they will obviously appear sideways)

Any pointers would be a great help

    Many thanks.

    Gareth

    🙂

If you’re not displaying across multiple verticle plasmas with a Vista Spyder with a few DX4 outputs, then I would use the same method you are to do what you are doing.

Only thing you really need to know is what direction the screen is going to rotate, or render out clockwide 90 and counterclockwise 90 clips to cover yourself if you can’t find out ahead of time.

Check with the people who run the display. I had to create a vertical comp, but their hardware was set up “correctly.” By that I mean, I output a tall vertical display file naturally. I didn’t have to rotate it.

Spyder with a DX4 out would let you display like that, tall image fit properly to your verticle plasma with no rotation. I’m sure there are others as well, but the Spyder is the one I’ve worked with the most on installed systems. Definately ask about the final playback system and the abilities of the hardware.
