Right, My boss informed me today that weowould need to re-create a project for an anamorphic lay off to D5. I have been up and down the comp settings and I cannot find a way to out put from after effect in a manner inwhich the comp size will be veriable in the final format…

is there an expression if so would it have to go in both the anchor point and scale atributes of should I go back to the illistrator file and do the math to generate the squeezed look . . . . before importing…

any thoughts??? I really could use an answere by tues. . . . no rush … but …. at the same time. . .HELP . . .

Oh and buy the way I know my profile doesn’t say what system and gear I am workign on … which according to a resent politness post is highly recomended … but I jump from mac o PC and all over teh board on specs that no one list of specs would let you know where I am at …

    Hi,

I’m not sure I’m reading your question correctly, but my guess that what you need to do is set your comp setting to D1 (720×486) and the pixel aspect ratio to 1.2. If you are using AE 7.0 there is a setting for D1 Widescreen. This will set you up for what you need. If you are using 6.5 or earlier you will need to set the Comp size and pixel aspect separately.

Anyway, I don’t believe there is any time you would want to have a output that changes the frame sizes throughout the animation.

In situations where you need to output different versions for different uses, I would recommend creating a a D1 widescreen comp as the main animation. Then if you need to output a letterboxed version in a 4×3 frame, then create a new D1 4×3 comp and drop the widescreen comp into it, scaling it down to 75% so it is properly letterboxed. If you need a pan-and-scan version then you can drop the widescreen version into a D1 comp but don’t scale it down. Instead, animate the position of the widescreen comp to make sure the important part is visible.

    Hope this helps,

    Lars
