Preparing Video for Display…Please Help
Hi,
I have been facing this strange problem while working in FCP. I have a few tracks on my edit and when I try to switch off any one track or do any transformation to the footage on the track, FCP displays a pop-ups with a message saying “Preparing Video for Display” and a percentage bar. This is not unusual but what is strange is that it takes really long to do the preview considering FCP being real-time, and by long I mean 15mins or so.
My Compressor is TIFF and all the footage is TIFF as well. I have imported the footage using Quicktime but these are dependent QTs and hence accessing the same TIFF image sequence. The footage and the dependent Qts are both on the XRAID.
Am I missing something…just cant figure this out…please help

TIF isn’t a motion format so FCP is calculating every frame.
You’ve built yourself a bit of a monster. You can pre-compose or nest some of your tracks, render them, and import them as movies. This will eliminate almost all of your preparing video waits. But not all. You can get those in long projects no matter what format and codec you’re using. I try to keep my projects under 20 minutes or break up the longer ones into 10-15 minute reels.bogiesan
