    Hi There,
I’m using FCP5 and I think I’ve accidentally set something in preferences, because when I’m editing and I add a transition or even move some footage or a still image, I get a Message “Preparing Video for Display” with a blue bar. It’s taking me ages to complete the work as each time I add or delete something this message comes up. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

It’s usually a mismatched setting between your clips and your sequence or you’ve been capturing to the wrong drive. There are ,many other possible causes like your sequence is too long or you’ve finally maxed out your RAM.

We see threads on the topic at least monthly so a quick search of the forum will give you several helpful threads.

A quick search got me 19 posts in three or four different threads.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
