Preparing Pre-matted video for Vegas
hey guys,
I am not the more fluent vegas user, actually i don’t use it at all, but i have a friend who uses vegas, he’s an amateur video editor but a blogger. I am creating for him, some cool animation of title bars and popup boxes to use in vegas, something he can drag and drop, then add texts.
the problem is, when i render the mov files out to with the animation codec using RGB+alpha, the video alpha doesn’t become transparent in vegas, but it is in AE
Can you guys help me with a work around, thank you very much

Have him right-click the file, select Properties, click the Media tab and change the option in the Alpha channel dropdown box to something other than the default.
I can’t recommend a specific one so try all of them to see which one works. -

I have a last question Mike, how do you use a footage as a layer matte in vegas? to reveal the footage depending on the luma or the alpha of another footage??

Ian, I’ve got a number of Digital Juice files that I use for things such as lower thirds.
I’ve received file from animators who have done things for me such as show intros.
I regularly get logos from companies (EPS or PSD format) and bring those into Vegas.
The key with all of these is that they have an alpha channel.
I use the method I described above to key them over top of whatever I want.
They can be faded in & out or I can use any FX in the Vegas to have them appear and disappear.
