Preparing Line Screen for Newsprint-HELP
Here’s a mystery I’m hoping there is a simple answer to…I am helping out a colleague who is switching to Indesign from Ready Set Go (and going from paste up to digital – really). Its a newsprint weekly with submitted ads and created text and display ads. One thing I can’t seem to get a concrete answer on is how to change image control of line screens in images.
In Ready Set Go they were able to open submitted pdf ads, select and copy an individual image, and set the line screen of the image to 85. In this way the images were prepped for the proper line screen but the text was still vector crisp.
It appears InDesign cannot individually correct images? Supposed to be able to select Object, Image Color Settings–but that appears to be grayed out no matter what I click on… OR upon importing an image you can click show import options and select the color tab to change to profile–but either of these applies it to the ENTIRE graphic/PDF. So…
Is this a function of their output house (they say no, they’ve checked)?
Is there another way to do this?Their source files are submitted in pdf form and are not editable except for globally.
Any insights welcome!
