Question on prepping for Color. I’ve duplicated my sequence and flattened all my video layers giving me just 2 layers now. My problem is I have live action mixed in with stills which cross dissolve and flash frame transition between one another. How do I bake the stills in with the live action? Baking the stills doesn’t give me handles to then later add the transitions back in?

Still, still, live action, still, still, live action: all cross dissolving into one another for that soft, feel good vibe. How can I get this into Color?

Separate the stills out and bake them separately. Or bake groupings of stills together if they will grade similarly. You cannot send the stills into Color as it will not work with them so you’ll need to make movie clips of them.

Personally I export each still with plenty of handles, then re-edit the sequence together before sending it into color so it’s essentially all moving video as far as Color is concerned. I show this in the tutorial Prepping your Timeline for Color.

Thanks Walter, I actually seen that tutorial. I just couldn’t figure out how to add the transitions back in other than having to back them with plenty of handles and re-edit them back in, which is what you recommended in your response. Thanks for the timely response. Its more work to do this but I guess its the only way. You gotta do what cha gotta do!

    Appreciate it. thx

Walter do you think apple is ever going to fix this round-tripping?

did it work better before apple owned it?

I hate all these steps that have to be taken to get it to go through right.

seems wrong. (though I suppose it isn’t from a tape to tape cc perspective)

    No clue.

Nope. It has more features now than when it was Final Touch 2.5.
