June 29, 2009 at 12:44 amAre you trying to import the rendered movie, or open an old project file? Is the rendered movie in a delivery format, such as MPEG?

June 29, 2009 at 2:36 amI guess the answer would be both. I have a rendered movie that I put on a DVD, using PremierePro 2.0. I want to re edit the video and add some more scenes. When I try to import the video, I get a “does not support this format” error message. I am having a problem trying to change the format to jpeg. I need step by step instructions on how to change the format. The rendered movie is in the PremierePro 2.0 format.

June 29, 2009 at 3:06 amIf the video was put onto a DVD, as in DVD-Video that plays in a DVD player, the video files are VOBs. VOBs are MPEG-2. You can simply change a VOBs file extension to MPG, and it will be recognized as such.
My version of Premiere required either an update or plugin to use MPEG-2 files, I can’t remember which. I’m not sure how PP2 handles MPEG-2.
Either way, you should decompress the VOB/MPG, or recompress to a Premiere compatible lossless codec prior to import.
I use AVS Video Convetrer to decompress video files.
It’s fastest if you pull the VOBs to your hard disk, for conversion, instead of converting directly from the DVD.Vince
