Premiere/After Effects dynamic link errors and failures
Here’s a breakdown of the sequence of events where the errors occur and what errors occur.
I open my Premiere document and my AE document.
I right-click the Premiere clip I’d like to edit in AE and select “Replace with After Effects Composition.”
The clip opens in After Effects just fine, however in Premiere I get an error message that says “The importer reported a generic error.”
I click and drag the AE composition into Premiere and get an error message that says “Failed to connect with Adobe After Effects Dynamic Link.”
I quit and reopen both applications.
I try to drag the AE composition into Premiere again. This works about half the time. (The other half the time I get the “failed to connect” error.)
I make my desired edits to the AE composition.
I cannot see those edits in Premiere – live-updating fails.
I try to edit the next clip in my Premiere sequence in AE… and the cycle starts all over again.
Things I’ve tried:
Quitting and re-opening Premiere and After Effects (numerous times).
Rebooting (numerous times)
Changing permissions to read & write in Library/Common folder
Running Private Internet Access
Not running private internet access
Logging out and logging back into Creative Cloud
Uninstalling and re-installing Premiere and After Effects
Creating an all new Premiere file and relinking all the AE compositions
Contacting Adobe chat support, where we somehow miraculously couldn’t recreate the problem, so of course as soon as the chat stopped, all the problems came back
Other pieces of information worth noting:
This is a 2.5 minute music video
Every shot has its own AE composition and so far there are 38 shots. Some of these compositions have additional compositions within them. In the end there will be a little over 50 compositions total.
File includes one link to a Cinema 4D composition.
Software information:
After Effects, 2015.2 Release, 13.7.1.6
Adobe Premiere Pro CC, 2015.2 Release, v9.2, ZigZag
My computer information:
iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB
Any ideas welcome.
Other strange errors I’ve gotten at various times include:
“After Effects error: File couldn’t be opened for writing: “”. (3 :: 0)”
“After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry!” {no current context}”
“AEGP Plugin CINEWARE SceneLayer: CINERENDER – Connection failure ( 5027 :: 12 )”
