When I am able to get Premiere CC to open and function somewhat normal, I get into the project and it’s still sluggish. When I hit the space bar, it takes several seconds to actually start playing.

    Thoughts?

What version (CC or CC 2014) do you have? What are your computer’s specs? What kind of footage are you using? When did the problem start? What kind of hard drive(s) is the footage on and how much free space do they have?

If you answer these questions, we might be able to help.

    HP Z600 Workstation
    2 Intel Xeon E5645 processors @2.40 GHz
    16gb ram
    Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1
G-Tech external raid connected esata with 156gb free
Primary OS drive has 60gb free
    Footage shot on Canon 5D M2, 5D M3, and 7D
I have both CC and CC2014 and the problem exists on both the original project in CC and the _1 for CC2014

This current issue is within the last week. No Windows updates have been done. The only thing that has changed is Adobe updates (Can I just say I am hating the subscription model. I miss being able to get the system running smooth and not worry about it until upgrading. Now I feel like I am constantly having to tweak things).

I should also add the many of the CC apps are “failing” when I attempt to click the “update” in the desktop cc application. They don’t give reason why but fail every time. However, Premiere is not one that failed.

    Joshua,

Are you running McAfee virus protection?

If you disable “RealTime Scanning” on McAfee, the updates should work…that was my problem anyway.

As far as sluggish…any other software that might be taking system resources in the background?

Nothing else running. I did disable the realtime scanning also and it still didn’t seem to help. The apps that fail to update are Photoshop, After Effects, and Speedgrade.

are you using any plugins like magic bullet or others?

You didn’t mention if you have a CUDA or OpenCL enabled gpu.

No plugins and the graphics card is Nvidia Quadro FX 4800.

Another very common issue that I run into that I wish I could find a permanent fix on is the error:

“The project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.”

The fix usually is to sign out of Adobe or uninstall and reinstall the software.

    Hi Joshua,
In Sequence Settings, see if changing the preview file format set to a QuickTime one helps.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
