  • Premiere using up all my free hard drive space

Has anyone encountered this issue? I have 90gigs of free hard drive space on my 250gig MacBook Pro hard drive. 20 minutes into editing Premiere uses up all 90gig of my free hard drive space. All the video files I’m working with are on an external hard drive. I have to restart my MacBook Pro to get my 90gigs of hard drive space back. How do I fix this issue?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Where is your media cache located? It’s on the system disk by default.

This is very likely a media cache issue. You will ned to re-assign the location in your preferences. Even then, if your experience is like mine, you will still need to back and periodically clean house on your system drive.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.
