Hey everybody – today I get a Harddrive with data from AdobePremiere on PC – a EDL with .avi DV clips. No Problem importing the EDL, but I can’t playback the avi-files. As I open them in QT Player its format is named “dvsd”. I work with FinalCut6 on Mac OS 10.4.9 and QT 7.2

    best regards,
    Felix

Are you able to import the avi files into a new FCP project? I’ve never had problems bringing .avi files into FCP.

The drive format usually only affects writing to the drive but try copying one of the files to your Mac and then try to import it.

hey – so maybe I forgot to say – I copied the files before opening the EDL. And the Problem is not importing the clips into FinalCutPro – but to playback the files. Also in QuickTime Player. They were captured in Premiere as DV – QuickTime Player says format is “dvds”

Yeah, there’s probably plenty you haven’t bothered to say.
What do you mean, in no uncertain terms, by won’t “play?”

hey – I mean if I try to playback QTPlayer as well as FCP just show a white screen – but I can remember playback avi from Adobe Premiere on a Mac System before. I can hear sound but I can’t see any picture. So my workaround was to convert them with streamclip. But there must be a way without converting….So maybe somone knows this problem and maybe a solution…
