I can’t seem to find the answer to this anywhere. But how do you move different titles up and down (layering) inside the title tool? For example, I’ll type out something like “Basic Eligibility Requirements” then would like to put the font on a box. I draw the outline of the box over top of it so I know correct sizing… but now the box is on top of the type. I have no idea how to get the type to move “layers”. Right now my workaround is to copy and paste the font, so now it’s on top of the box. Then delete the original, but that just seems dumb.

In Avid there was just a button you could push to raise a graphic past another one or back below it if you wanted. I see buttons on the left under “align” and “distribute” but they are always greyed out. I figure the answer lies there, but don’t know how to get those buttons activated.

    I appreciate any help!

    Hi David,
I press the ESC key after creating each line of text to have that kind of capability. Does that work for you?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I don’t notice the escape key doing anything.

    right click on the object…

choose arrange from the context menu…

all the keyboard shortcuts to push and pull layers are listed…

    Actually… follow up question.

So what are the “Align” and “Distribute” buttons for… and when do they come into play? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them NOT greyed out.

    Hi David….

I think you have to have multiple objects selected….

so that you can “align” or “distribute” them. 😉

without that they’d probably remain grayed out because it doesn’t know what to apply it to…

Right-click to the context-sensitive menu for tools to adjust in the “Z” axis, so to speak.

“Align” and “Distribute” order items in the “X” and “Y” axis.
