Premiere suddenly takes 10x as long as normal to export. Why?
All the sudden today, Premiere pro 1.5 is suddenly taking about 10x as long to export movies. For example a 10 minute movie is taking 3 hours. After Effects is the same. Something that would used to take 20 minutes is taking hours. I’ve made three movies with this setup and have been exporting stuff fine all week. Now suddenly it’s taking forever. What could cause this? I looked at my CPU usage and it’s between 96%-100% using 300mb of memory. What the heck is going on? I’ve restarted my computer, started to projects and its still the same. Whats going on?

It’s hard to fault-find remotely.
Does your system slow right down / go into heavy activity before you launch PPro / AE?
Could you have picked up a virus?
Are you very low on or out of hard disc space?
Have you added previously-unused filters or effects like e.g. Magic Bullet or some 3D transitions ..?

Have you checked your memory? Sometimes there can be memory errors that aren’t caught in the bios check, it could be forcing you to virtual memory which is very slow.

What happened just before this started? new software installed, etc?
