Premiere reporting incorrect video dimensions
I don’t think I’ve ever created a new thread on this forum because my questions were already asked and answered. This time I was stuck. So now that I’ve found an answer, I thought I’d post it for the next person.
Problem: Adobe Premiere frequently creates ProRes files that Adobe itself cannot read properly, with Premiere misreporting the resolution.
I’m using Premiere CS6 on a Mac. I’ve rendered my Premiere timeline as a 1080p 23.976 ProRes Quicktime file. However, when I import the video back into Premiere for further edits, it is reported as 916×515. If I try to scale up the video, it’s pixelated. Meanwhile I can play the same file in Quicktime Player at full 1080 resolution with no degradation.
Solution: Open in Quicktime Player 7. (Just in case: move the playhead to something other than a black screen.) Save as a new self-contained file. Re-import into Premiere. Done!
That’s all I’ve got. Thanks for bailing me out a million times, Creative Cow community!
