I am tryng to trim a project down from 124GB to 42GB. This is what the project manager says it will do for me. I start the process and it takes about an hour to complete. Once finished, i can pen up the newly trimmed project file but instantly upon opening it says that Premiere had a serious error and must close. When i open it back up, same thing. I can move all the media to a new location and it opens fine, until I try to relink the media. I’ve gone through and relinked some individual clips which works out fine, but some elements cause this serious error. (titles and AVI media files) I’ve replaced the ‘trimmed’ titles that are giving me problems with the original ones and it still gives me a serious error. Does any one know what is giong on and how to fix it? I can’t keep this much media on the drive if I’m not using it….but I don’t know how else to quickly and effectively remove the unused media. HELP!!

We use Premiere Pro 1.5 and the Project Manager is buggy. Recently we have been getting distorted sound from our “Trimmed” projects.
Avid tech support has noted that XP can not effectively keep track of more than 100,000 files. We get a lot of crashes when our hard drives get over 60% full. You might want to check your available hard drive space. Also check your scratch disks. If they are set to a disk that is too full, that could be causing your issues. Otherwise you may have to wait until version 2.0. A major thing I don’t like about Adobe is their aloofness and slo-mo speed when it comes to fixing known major problems. Contrast that to a company like Serious Magic that has downloadable fixes available within weeks.
