Hi. Can anyone confirm or deny that a GTX470 will work on a mac with Premiere Pro CS5.5? The card is listed as qualified for PC by adobe, but is available for the Mac, but not explicitly listed as giving GPU acceleration on the mac.. Have seen a lot of people advising using it over the more expensive quadro 4000.

There are many more cards that will work, though not officially on the adobe list.

The GTX470 is listed as one that will for windows.

I think the key would be to make sure there are mac & cuda nvidia drivers
    for that card.

EDIT: looks like nvidia does not provide a mac driver for that card.

The only Nvidia cards with Premiere Mercury Playback support on the Mac are the Quadro FX 4800 and Quadro 4000.

Be aware that many cards that have the same model #’s may have MAC and PC editions. I would stick with the already mentioned hardware Quadro FX 4800 and Quadro 4000.

The time you will save yourself by using these cards will greatly offset the $ you will save by buying a less than capable GFX card

Thanks for all the responses. Will play it safe and ask the boss to buy the Quadro then.

I’m using a GTX-285 I got from e-Bay and it works great on the Mac. Less than $400.
