Premiere Pro memory or compatibility issues
I’m in the Army video realm and my unit is deployed to Afghanistan, so please keep this in mind when making suggestions as we don’t have a Best Buy or Mac Store just down the road 🙂
We are running into issues regarding Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. After only 2 months of use, clips are disconnecting, the spindle of death is a regular visitor, when playing the sequence the video clips freeze frame while still playing the audio, random unidentified errors are occurring when trying to export, simple audio gain adjustments cause the entire program to fail/close, etc. This is affecting 3 of 8 computers so it isn’t an isolated issue. Most of the issues have me suspecting there is a RAM/memory issue but I don’t know what to look for to fix this. I’ve owned Macs for a long time and have never had the kind of issues these Army issued ones are giving us (we have two laptops that can’t hold a charge after only having them for a year). I’m at the point of wiping the whole system and re-installing the software.
Specs of the computer — We’re running off 17 inch MapBook Pro’s using OS X vs. 10.7. The system has 8 GB of Memory and has 500 GB of HD, which we dump projects off onto an external HD tower to keep the computer from bogging down under the massive project files. Our Premiere memory is set up to use 6 GBs of the memory. We shoot off Panasonic P2 HD Cameras in 720/30PN and export to H264.
Again, we’re in Afghanistan and I’m hoping there are some system setting changes that will resolve this rather than an entire overhaul
Any assistance or suggestions are much appreciated!
