    I have a large project on Premiere Pro CS4 – ~10 hours of HDV 1080i footage. When, after using some other windows, premiere is back from background it freezes for ~30 seconds.

    please help!

    I run quad core pentium, 8GB of RAM, 4 x 500GB Drives in Raid 10

    CS4 is not very good in handeling large project. Advice here chop your large project into smaller projects like one to two hours.
    When finished you can bring them together in Encore.
