hello all. i’m working on a short 24p (dvx100a project) and it is pretty effect heavy, i’m using the color corrector on every clip along with alot of trackmats and whatnot.

however, it seems that now, premiere is extremely slow, to the point where i click on one sequence tab from another, i’m waiting a couple seconds before it actually switches, where before, it was instant.

i set all my scratch disks to a sata drive which has plenty of room and i know the effects will take its toll, but there has to be a way / configuration i can use to make this run better. is it slower because the size of the project or because the effects? any suggestions are appreciated. thanks in advance.

    dimension 430c
    2.8 ghz w/hyperthreading
    2 gb ddr 400 ram.
    premiere pro 1.5

    running on sata drives.

Waiting a couple of seconds for Sequences to switch is normal in my system. I use a lot of sequences in most projects. I use a Matrox TX realtime card but it still takes time for the timeline to sort the sequences; especially larger complex ones.

Maybe toggle off the effects (after setting them) and turn them back on just prior rendering. (e.g edit first, apply effects last).
