Premiere Pro feature summary (August 2024 release)
Hey All,
Before you upgrade to the latest version of Premiere Pro, better read the small print:
Additional updates
The Obsolete Effects folder and plug-ins, Obsolete Transitions folder and plug-ins, and presets built from the obsolete effects are now removed. These effects and transitions have faster, more modern alternatives in Premiere Pro or offered by third parties. These effects are responsible for major project slowdowns and performance bottlenecks. In addition to all the modern alternatives to the obsolete effects and transitions within Premiere Pro, you can also use third-party effects, transitions, and filters.
Apparently it is “obsolete effects” that slows down (crashes) Premiere Pro.
When asking Adobe support for help, they ask you to switch off all third-party plugins…
It can’t be both, can it?
And, why is there no list of what third party suppliers will replace the Obsolete Effects like-for-like?Admittedly, I do from time to time find myself using obsolete effects simply because they are easy to find…
Not sure that there is anything exciting in the August 2024 release – if anything it is coming up to IBC, it is underwhelming in comparison to Davinci, and even Avid.
(Yes, I did not mention FCPX, because they are competing up against themselves in form of FCPX v iMovie – OK, that was a bit harsh, but do feel free to disagree).Atb
