I have a quick question regarding my own presets, and wondering if they’re a little “overkill” compared to some of Adobe’s presets.

Would anyone be able to advise? (I’ll post my various settings if anyone can help)

You didn’t explain what you are doing and what are the settings for what you are doing so it’s impossible to say.

So, here are the settings (my settings will be in brackets)

Adobe Preset – YouTube 1080p HD

    Level: 4.2 | (5.1)
Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 1 pass | (VBR, 2 pass)
    Target Bitrate: 16 | (20)
    Max Bitrate: 16 | (25)

    Adobe Preset – YouTube 2160p 4K

    Level: 5.2 | (5.1)
Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 1 pass | (VBR, 2 pass)
    Target Bitrate: 40 | (60)
    Max Bitrate: 40 | (60)

TBH, my settings are a slight copy of someone else’s that I saw online (it may have been on here but I can’t remember. I also have a 2.7k preset, but Adobe doesn’t have one for YouTube 2.7, so nothing to compare against. That’s basically with the bitrates set halfway between that of 1080p and 2160p.

I guess what I really need to know is, is my bitrate too high? From everything I have read, having the VBR 2 Pass is a must.
