I have just installed Premiere Pro CS6, I am attempting to edit Canon 5d MRKII DSLR files natively but I am only able to playback 5-15 frames before playback stops?? Can anyone help me?

    My System is:

    MacPro5,1
    10.6.8
    Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    2.8 GHz
    32 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 5770

What kind of hard drive are you playing your media from?
have you moved from CS5 to CS6 recently? did you have any trouble before?

Hi David, I am playing my media from a 1TB Lacie firewire 800 drive. This is my first installation of Premiere as I have been using FCP in the past which I never had any problems with playback. Any thoughts?

I would guess the file size is too big to edit directly off the drive via 1394. I’ve done 5D files from thunderbolt and firewire, and it lagged a lot with firewire. Try moving the files to your internal drive. If it works then the files are to big to edit from the drive. If it doesn’t then you may have corrupted your CS6 install or you need to redirect your scratch disk. Premiere CS4 had a tendency to get confused if you move your scratch disk location. I’m new to CS6 so I don’t know if they fixed it but that could be the problem.

Hi Rhys, thanks for the reply, I have tried several different scratch locations both internal and external with no change. As far as file size even a 34mb file will not play???

Have you tried renaming the .mov clips to *.mpg? This worked for me when I had similar issues.
