  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 timecode not showing

Posted by Ben Nash on September 21, 2011 at 4:46 pm

Hi all, I have a problem. I’m using Premiere Pro CS5.5 (and tried it on CS4) on a MacBook Pro with Lion. I have GH2 footage in the timeline, I add the effect: timecode to it and nothing happens, I get the effects setting but no time in the footage. I have watched YouTube videos and when they apply the effects white text with the time appears I don’t get this

Am I missing a setting or something?

Thanks in advance, I really need to find out what I’m doing wrong, Ben

That’s a bug with Lion and Premiere Pro.

See this page for known issues with Lion:

Is there resolution to the timecode issue for CS5 and Lion users or is this only for CS5.5 users?

The Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.2) update fixes the problem with the Timecode effect overlay not working, as well as some other issues. See this page for details:

Hi, I’m having the same problem in Premier Pro CS5.04 on MAC Lion OS. Is there a patch to fix this? Thank you Gary

This problem happened to me today running CS6 on Mountain Lion, I’m running fonts using Linotype FontExplorer X (cause I saw a thread on adobe.com that mentioned some related font issues apparently causing this).

Is there something I can do to make it work?

    Best,
    David.
