    Hello,

    I just got a HP XW8600 dual 2x3ghz Xeon 5450 12mb, with 8gb of ram, with a Nvidia Quadro fx 3700 512mb card. It’s running Vista 64bit Business.

I am thinking of getting Production Premium cs4, is Premiere pro’s cs4’s performance on such a machine as mine with 64bit going to out-perform cs3 on the same machine even though cs3 is not certified for 64bit.

I am worried about going to cs4, and not getting any advantage to these processors and ram over cs3. Is rendering faster, how about stability and performance with cs4 on 64bit?

I was told be an Adobe support technician the other day that the new Adobe update 4.0.1 now turns Premiere pro into a true 64bit application, same goes with the After Effect’s new update as well.

He said photoshop is 64 bit and with the udpates, so are After Effects and Premiere. has anyone had any experience working with cs4 to see the new benefits on 64bit operating systems?

    Thanks,

    Leo

    Hey Leo…

It won’t make your CPU any faster…And Premiere Pro CS4 is still 32 bit…any 32 bit app can only address 3.5 GB of RAM (windows environment)….BUT…

From what I understand PPro CS4 as an application has been sort of split (from an OS point of view, not a user point of view) into multiple concurrent tasks.

Each one of those concurrent processes can take advantage of it’s own chunk of RAM…this should make PPro behave faster than under XP (32 Bit) where they’d all have to share the same 32 bit memory blocks…and use the disk swap file…which reduces performance.

So you should see a benefit under 64 bit…

    hope that helps….

I recently installed CS4 Master Collection on my Vista64 Ultimate PC and found that five of the installed programs won’t launch, AE, Encoder, Flash, and a couple of others. There were no error messages spawned during installation. PS does work properly and I’ve been enjoying its CUDA boosted features with large images.

I’m bumping up against my 4GB limit of installed memory currently while working so I’m thinking of increasing that to 8MB soon.

I have yet to try the recent program updates posted to see if there’s been any bug fixes.

    I am now on the HP XW8600 workstation;

    8gb of ram
    Nvidia Quadro 3700 512mb
    2x Xeon 5450 3ghz
    Vista 64bit Business

I am getting crashes with CS3 of Premiere pro, After effects.

I can be editing in Premiere then razor blade a clip or go to move a clip, or even go through my thumbmail list of media in my project window and I get Adobe premeire pro has encounted a serious error and has to be restarted.

I get an error when I am trying to export to h264 from the Adobe premeire pro cs3 Media encoder.

I get Un-known error has occured when I reach the end of rednering the filem and no file gets created. I get Adobe Premire pro has stopped responding errors as well.

I get After Effects errors when trying to export normal dv footage, or just tryin to import videos, or go to launch Premeire and After effects. I been tryin gto deal with Adobe tech support but they have run out of troubleshooting ideas so I am on my own!

I got this quote from the HP PDF brochure advertising HP and Production Premium.

MEET THE CHALLENGE WITH HP AND ADOBE.
Working together, HP and Adobe help you solve some of your toughest design challenges with innovative hardware and software that are tuned

    and integrated for better performance.
Adobe revolutionizes how the world engages with ideas and information. For more than two decades, the company’s award-winning software and

technologies have redefined business, entertainment and personal communications by setting new standards for producing and delivering content

that engages people virtually anywhere at any time.
HP engineers work closely with Adobe to verify that HP Workstations can take full advantage of the features of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production

Premium. Adobe applications are thoroughly tested and certified on HP Workstations, giving you greater confidence in your production solution.

If it has been tested and certifed? Then why am I getting the same issues?

I am pissed off now as spent more money on a brand new workstation the HPXW8600 as my Quadcorebefore that Adobe told me its a hadrware issue the problems I have been getting, so I went out and got this new machine and the exact same porolems! Which is supposed to be supported and certified and still can’t get any support.

Does anyone have a stable CS3/CS4 system based around this config? What about with a blackmagic capture card and Cienform in the same machine as well?

I have disposed off all my HP Workstations. I realised that they were the problem and expensive for name sake. The only Hp Xeon in my studio is for Graphics and minor titles and intros. I now use ASUS boards and have no serious problems with CS3/4 ON Vista 64, Q9550, 8gb, HDrives 500gb; 4tb; Intensity Pro. Sad there is no driver for CS4, so I use firewire and so far so good alongside CS3 on Intensity
Change the HP and have your peace of mind. I was in the process of getting a bigger HP, but had a change of mind and use the same amount to get two systems

Leo Baker.. The problem is that you should be running an hp !!! Components are coming with half of one quarter.
With a mother or asus intel (high end), 4 GB RAM 800, Vista Ultimate 64-bit… The CS4 walks like a dream, As always there are some bugs.. They are too encompassing, Suites making too many programs when they could collect at least 2 in a, Like Photoshop and fireworks, And premiere After Effects, Etc etc .. Above… Not have a program to capture swf movies ! To move to avi or mpg .. I do not understand, Because we need to find the answer in third with a giant array of programs that have..
Another possible solution for when you enloquezca Machine: Tune up utilities for Vista 64.. Going very well.
Video cards : Used Msi Nvidia.
A hug and a taste.. Cost me understand what you wrote but you are worried noticed, I hope you solved the problem.
