premiere pro cs4 problem.
i have the adobe premiere cs4 and recently i was starting a new project. first off, i was able to download a mini dvd (video) into my computer and when i was opening up a new project into cs4 and dragging the video (from the mini dvd) into the cs4 timeline and playing it (review) there is sound but the video just stays still, no movement at all. when i press the space bar to play the video there is no response except just the sounds coming from the video itself. any advice…please please help! thanks to all for your upcoming replies!
i’ve been getting these pop ups when editing with premiere pro 2. “adobe premiere pro is running very low on system memory. please save your project and proceed with caution.” and at other occassions another pop-up box will appear indicating “sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires adobe premiere pro to shut down. we will attempt to save your current project.” does anyone have a solution to solve these pop-ups? need help asap. much thank yous to those who are kind enough for their assistance! thanks again.

Have you tried encoding/exporting it to another format before you edit? Does Premiere ask you to render it when you drag it into the timeline? (the bar above the timeline turns red)

no i haven’t encoded or exported it to another format. if so, what are the steps when doing this? rendering normally happens when i am half way done editting the video. the problem that i am experiencing is, after i am able to capture a dvd video and transferring it into cs4 and editting it from there, the entire video does not move and only the sound is heard when i am viewing the video. the video is completely frozen.
please help… my computer system has issues! thanks in advance.

Does the video freeze only when you play the timeline? If you move the framefinder, does the picture change to the frame you selected?
Well, my guess is that Premiere has problems with the format you’re using from the dvd. If you get a red bar at the top of the timeline, your video is not optimised for Premiere. Simply pressing ‘enter’ when the timeline is selected should do the trick. Premiere will then make and save a (temporary) videofile which it can work optimally.
Otherwise you can click ‘file’, ‘export’, ‘media’. Then you select the format you want (Avi, NTSC/PAL, 4:3/widescreen etc) and Premiere makes an avi which you should be able to use without problems. Takes some time to render though, but your problem might be solved.
