After a lay off of a few months I attempted to create a movie file (tried at least half a dozen formats) but Premiere Pro gets so far through then stops. It’s a video of about 15 minutes and I have never had this before. Any help would be much appreciated as I am tearing out what little hair I have left.

    Thanking you in anticipation

Export as an image sequence, see where it dies then inspect the video clip it dies on for any corruption or other issues.

If you’re pressed for time then export, see where it dies then pick up a second export one frame after. Combine the two image sequences and deal with the frame skip by duplicating or blending a frame.

Premiere Pro tends to struggle when applying effects to highly compressed footage. If there are any MP3 audio files in the timeline, convert these files to uncompressed wav format. If the problem persists, look at the video files.
