Premiere pro cs4 panning through multiple shots?
First of all let me say that I’ve searched and searched and found no answer. This might be a completely newbie question but: How do I keyframe panning and zooming action across multiple still images? I’m making a timelapse video and would like to add that effect into it. Is the only way to render it into a movie first and then do it? If I add keyframe in the first image for the pan it’s only affecting that jpeg. As soon as the next one comes up the pan is lost.

If your second image is an independent file, yes, your keyframe from the first one will have no effect. Effects keyframes are clip-specific.
If you are trying to do the identical motion effect to multiple images on your timeline, though, there is a simple solution: Set up the effect on one image. Right-click on the clip on the timeline and select “copy” from the context menu. Then highlight all the remaining clips/images and right-click again, then when the menu comes up, select “paste attributes” and the same motion effect will be applied to all of them.
If you are not trying for a series of identical moves, this will not help you. Then, you’ll have to do them individually.

Yeah the problem is the first situation you descripe. I was thinking that if there were a blank image on top of the sequence with opacity of 0 and it would be as long as the sequence could I somehow link the pan effect to the below track?
I was bit shocked that first time I use this software I instantly find something that can’t be done afaik since this is a very respected and ‘pro’ software. -

PPro is a very respected and professional application. And very useful.
Looking forward to CS5, though I’ll have to build a new machine for it first!
What you are asking is, from what I’ve now read, a problem you are not addressing properly. If each clip (still image, in this instance) is to have its own motion, you’re going to have to do them individually.
Might try AE, as suggested below, though you can do movement keyframing in PPro just fine. Done it myself for some time now, in fact.

Well maybe this could go in as a suggestion for the next update to CS5 then. I was thinking if the images or even clips are grouped then they could handle single keyframe system throughout. I do have AE access also but I’ve never used that or any such program so if anyone know how to do this in that then please post. I only have experience in sony vegas and photoshop before I got into this project.

To do the motion in PPro…
you can keyframe the basic motion parameter to one then copy and paste attributes to the others.
this would be a quick way.

I have been trying to learn how to pan across multiple images with out it looking like it is stopping. They are stills and I panned around the room and would love to know what to do in after affects could you please let me know thank you so much for yout ime.best
