ok I had CS4 on vista 64 bits service pack 1
premiere pro was at revision 4.01 , Encore was updated to the latest version and Media Encoder too

I had a project in DV with 9 sequence to export into dvd with a time code burnin efffect something really simple in theory

sequence 1 to 5 went throught like a breeze
when I tried sequence 6 without any warning Encore froze when loading the premiere sequence at 50%
time after time from there it never worked again
I tried another sequence same thing always

than I tried to export into a microsoft dv avi to import in into encore later, the media encoder start load the file put in queue I start tgh queue and nothing happen it just stay there and waith doing nothing

I even started a brand new project imported a file that worked previsouly and again same problems in both encore and media encoder

so here`s all I have done so far
reinstall CS4 over = same problems
    remove CS4
updated vista to service pack 2
reinstalled again cs4 with updates in encore and media encoder = same problems
installed the 4.1 update in premiere = same problems

I suspect uninstalling is not a clean uninstall because when I opened the new instal I could still see the latest projects in the opening menu

I`m currently finishing the job by doing a print to tape and using the composite output of the dv recorder to feed a DVD recorder !

I hope I can resolve without reinstalling windows too

I just fixed a problem that was similar, but perhaps not the same. I couldn’t export media from PP CS4 on my Vista machine. I would click on file > export > media, and it would just sit there and not do anything until I hit ESC, then PP would become active again.

I turned on view hidden files (Control Panel > folder options > view > check the box next to “show hidden files and folders”) I then went to C:\Users\{your user name here}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and saw that I had 2 Premiere Pro folders, 1 labeled “Premiere Pro” and the other “PremierePro”. If you go in those folders there are sub-folders labeled “4.0”. The folder without the space, PremierePro, had an empty 4.0 folder, so I deleted it (the PremierePro folder, not just the 4.0 folder). That fixed my exporting problems. This was after reinstalling, rebooting, regretting, etc.

    Hope that works for you.
