Premiere Pro CS3 preview window NOT ACCURATE for 720

OK, here are a couple of images that might make it clearer what I am experiencing.

First see what I am seeing in Premiere Pro and then see what is on the actual video. I have to simply guess where to put things near the edges.

Then here is what the actual video is showing. Note the position of the feet. Notice the distance from my head to the overhang behind it how the image shifts a huge amount

I am having to fly blind for the whole outside edge of the video and just GUESS where things will appear.

I am using DV import by connecting the camera by firewire. I manually scale the different “Green screen” videos to the size and location that I want them. The problem is that my workspace inside of Premiere Pro is not giving me an accurate representation of what the video will look like.

I tried the scale to frame size and that just made the background graphic way too small to use.

I don’t know what you are up to but video is identified by its vertical resolution, DV is ntsc 480i, pal 576i or xxxp, HD is 1080, i or p or 720p, if you are editing to make a ntsc DVD the final matrix will be 720×480(480x) so everything you add to that matrix should be eventually to scaled 720×480 unless its a PIP or split screens or montages, if you not going to make a DVD but maybe for the net or computer you will have to scale the output to resolution you are going to use.

When I start a video I am presented with only 4 presets under DV-NTSC. I used to (for years actually) pick Standard 48Hz but decided to switch to Widescreen 48Hz and that is when these problems started.

I use MiniDV on the cameras which have a firewire connection and can be controlled by Premiere Pro.

I believe there is a defect in Premiere Pro CS3

Question? what camcorders are you using? are you shooting in 4:3 and editing in 16:9?

I am using Canon ZR900 for some of the shots, but that should not affect the background graphics or the position of videos.
