    I’m working on a project from FCPX in which the audio is being mixed in premiere pro CS 5.5. THe timecode base for the clips is 59.94, however when I type my timecode for in and out in the source monitor, it changes the timecode on me. How do I change the source monitor’s timecode from 29.97 to 59.94 in CS5.5?

    It’s a very buried, strangely labeled setting.

    Edit > Preferences > Media > A setting called “Indeterminate Media Timebase”

    Audio files, if they aren’t broadcast wave files with embedded timecode (and even that is a calculation based on samples since midnight) then Premiere uses the timecode base for this setting since audio is sample based, not frame based.

    Correct me if I am wrong but I alway thought Indeterminate Media Timebase specifies the framerate for imported still-image sequences.

    Ann, I would assume it does exactly what the setting suggests: places a time base on an indeterminate file. Image sequences would be part of that but audio as well; audio uses audio samples as its true fractional measurement of time, so unless it contains additional timecode info (like broadcast WAV files) then Premiere is interpreting it in a more video-friendly way.

    I did test what happens when changing that setting and it will change how timecode is displayed in the source monitor.

    Kind of interesting to know.

    OMG…I know this thread is old, but this completely helped me and I wanted to thank you.

    Edirol R4 pro recorded TC at 23.976, came into premier at 29.97…this fixed my problem.
