Premiere Pro CS 5.5 Audio Tracks
Posted by Armando Ciurana on September 23, 2011 at 3:05 amHi! I´m new to Premiere Pro, I come from a FCP7 Background.
When I import a clip with audio channels 1 and 2 Premiere Pro assign those channels to audio tracks 4 and 5 in my timeline, I dragged the tracks to audio 1 and 2 but nothing happens, every time does that, could any body give me some tip?
Thank´s in advance!

September 23, 2011 at 3:16 amAudio tracks in premiere are stereo or mono. And you can only edit like tracks to like tracks. Your A1 track is stereo and your source is 2 channel mono.
To get fcp like behavior, check your new sequence properties audio tab and change it to 0 stereo tracks and 4 mono tracks. Then go to preferences/audio and set the import clips preference to mono.

October 22, 2011 at 6:06 amI enjoyed Todds short video about mono and stereo audio tracks, but I am still having trouble. My AVCHD BDMV source audio is stereo but when I add to track it creates 2 mono tracks. Why does this happen? I tried changing preferences from mono to stereo. I tried reimporting. Also, I would not mind this so much, but these 2 mono tracks are not linked in a way that I can apply a video effect or transition to both at the same time, which is frustrating. Adobe has better audio than FCP, but FCP would let me link or unlink these 2 audio tracks, essentially letting me treat the pair with a single effect. Is there a way to do this?? If not, please treat this as a bug and fix it asap. THanks,
