  premiere pro crashes when applying effects (new)

  Hi

  i have recently started using premiere pro CS3 and the program keeps crashing during the application of audio and video effects ( e.g when using intricate audio nodels to adjust sound within a given shot or moving the time remapping button up and down) the windows message comes up ” a serious error has occured, windows must shut down the program”.

  it does not seem to be a ram problem as task manager is stable at low CPU and physical memory when crash occur.

  and ive tried to cut down on the automatic start up programs

  could it be that cs3 and vista just down get on?

  My specs: 32 BIT Vista
  Ram: 2046mb
  AMD athlon 64×2 dual core processor 3800+ 2.00GHz

  Also i use a matrox external hard drive to transfer projects back and forth to my editing partner.

  any ideas?
