    Hi,
I am running in to some problem when I use Media encoder/Encore. I get 100% CPU utilization and my computer starts beeping. When I export from PPro I see only 50-60% CPU utilization and don;t hear any Beeps. My ultimate aim is to make DVD;s and not for uploading to youtube/web.

Can some one please help me out? I didn’t get proper answere from Adobe. They asked me to delete previews and try but is not working. Here is my machine set up

    CPU-i7-930
    Ram: 12 GB
S/W: Adobe creative suite Production premium (5.0.3)
    Graphics card: GTX 285
OS: Win 7 64 bit ultimate edition.
    HDD1: OS & Application 7200 RPM
HDD2:Assets and video scratch files 7200 RPM
    HDD3:Assets/audio scratchiles 7200 RPM

    Thanks
    Vinod

    Hi VeeKay,

The beeping could be a BIOS CPU heat warning. If that’s the case, and this is a home build, it may be time to reapply some thermal paste or check the fans. Of course it could be something else, what is the beeping pattern, is this an off the shelf machine or home built?

100% CPU is common with Premiere, especially during rendering, or transcoding when going to Encore. It is perfectly normal.

    Hi,
There are 2 indicators near to the CPU and instantly red alert turns on when transcoding and CPU 100%. This is a home built.

Should I have to tweek any thing in the system for performance improvement.

    Thanks

Did you check the thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink? Also make sure that it’s a tight fit. That alone is the cause of most overheating. Tweaking of the BIOS is pretty specific to the machine you have.

You can also download speedfan to make sure that’s the issue.

    Hi Vince,

Thanks a lot. I checked the thermal paste. It did work. I am trying to get a good heat sink. Any suggestions for a good heat sink?

One more question, is there any quality difference when we transcod using Adobe Media encoder and Encore?

    Thanks

Thermaltake has been my choice over the years. But if you are not overclocking, the stock sink/fan should be enough.

Encore uses the same encoder as Premiere, but you have to create presets to get the same setting flexibility.

For anything under 1 hour, 7.5 Mb/s or 8 Mb/s* CBR is usually the way to go.

*Only for higher end blank media and recorders.
