When Apple rolled out the last iteration of QuickTime 7.4 for Mac OS X, it caused a huge compatability issue with Premiere Pro. I would be able to edit and do everything within Premiere as normal, but I could not output my projects in any way. I do not want to install QT 7.5 if it will do the same thing.

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys and gals have upgraded to QuickTime 7.5 and have had any of the same sort of compatability issues. I do not want to install QT 7.5 unless it will work completely. Because in order to rollback QuickTime in Mac OS X, you have to completely wipe the OS and reinstall Mac OS X again, as well as reinstall the Adobe Production Suite. Not fun.

PS I’m using Mac OS 10.5 on a MacBook Pro. I’m currently using an early version of QT 7.4 with no problems (other than none of my iTunes tv shows will play… which sucks since I just bought Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog…)

Correction: I’m using QuickTime 7.3.1 and it was QuickTime 7.4 that caused my compatibility issues.

    Sorry for any confusion.

I realize it’s been quite a while since you posted this, but I can add that there’s a problem with QT above 7.3.1 and Encore. I am not able to export Flash from Encore with QT Prp 7.5.5 installed on a MBP running Leopard (10.5.5)

Yeah. I never did figure out whether the newer/newest version of QT had the same problem with Premiere (and apparently Encore). But I’ve moved on to Final Cut Pro since then, and havn’t had a single problem. I havn’t tried to go back and work on any projects I worked on under Premiere Pro, so I still don’t know if QT works with Premiere Pro or not. Sorry I can’t help you any… the only advice I can offer is to keep looking around Creative COW to see if there is an answer. It has to be out there somewhere.

I attempted the rollback to QT 7.3.1 and it worked. Exported a flash file from Encore without a hitch.

I haven’t detected any problems with the rest of the Adobe suite or Final Cut for that matter.
