May 19, 2014 at 11:18 pmI had issues with my timeline not playing back. I tried exporting/importing XML from Premiere Pro CC to Final Cut Pro. Then from there exporting/importing XML back from Final Cut into Premiere Pro CC.
It works!

May 23, 2014 at 9:07 pmI am having the same issue– my project timeline suddenly doesn’t play audio. The audio waveforms exist for some clips, but have disappeared for others.
I have opened the project on several computers, and the problem remains. If I reimport the audio, it won’t play in either the timeline or the source monitor, although the media plays fine in all other applications.
I have tried deleting render files, starting new sequences, muting/soloing/turning off eyeballs, changing every setting, changing computers. I am trying to avoid FCP, if possible.
Naturally, my project is due shortly, so thank you in advance for all ideas!

August 14, 2014 at 7:48 amHello
After installing cc 2014, I have the same issue again.
I made a note after it’s first occurrence.
Luckily the the same procedure worked again.– Deleting all preview files.
– Under menu preferences -> Media, cleaning Media Cache Database
– Making sure that preferences -> Audio Hardware is set to Built-inI’m not sure if all steps are mandatory. Scientific clue would demand to go step by step.
But it surely did the trick for me.

August 7, 2015 at 7:00 pmThanks for the audio hardware settings tip!
Had the same issue with timeline not playing. I simply changed the “Audio Hardware” in “Preferences” from “System Default” to specifying my audio interface which is “Digidesign Mbox 2”
I’m on 2011 imac, 12 GB Ram, OSX 10.10.4 and I use an old mbox 2 as my audio interface.
