I have edited a video in Premiere Pro CC. After I save and exit, my file can not be opened again. I get a window that says it is damaged. I un-install PP CC and then re-install PP CC and it opens. Then later the same “damaged” message shows up and I go through the same un-install and re-install. What is going on? My CS6 Premiere Pro never does this.

    Hi Terry,
Have you updated to the most recent version of Premiere Pro CC? Check out Help > Updates within the app.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Yes, I have the latest. In fact, I have to un-install and re-install the software from the Adobe Cloud to get Premiere Pro CC to work.

    Hi Terry,

I’ve had a similar problem. For the past half year, I’ve been editing promos for a series using CC. Whenever I exit the app, and restart it later, attempting to reopen a project, it will fail to open every time unless once I’m out of CC I do the following: trash my prefs using Digital Rebellion’s Preference Manager. This happens literally every time, so I always have Preference Manager open. It’s a free download:

    https://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/download.html

I’ve found CC to be great, although it’s still very crashy. I think it may be due to the fact that the shows that I’m editing promos for are from .mxf files. For some reason, PP CC doesn’t like them (or at least certain versions of them), and the most recent 7.2 update was a disaster for me as a result (I had to roll back to 7.1). I hope Adobe is working on fix for the red flashes I was getting with 7.2 (7.2.0 or 7.2.1 for that matter).

Anyway, try trashing your prefs with Preference Manager every time you try to open that problem project file. Only takes a couple of seconds, and it’s really saved my life with my own project!

    Good luck,

    David

    David,

Does Preference Manager work with a PC?
Seems the only one they offer is MAC.

    I have Windows 8.

    Hi Terry,

Rats. Looks like Pref Manager is indeed Mac only. I wonder if there’s a comparable app out there for Windows…anyone?

    David,

Is there a way to discard preferences within Premiere Pro?

    Terry
