Question. Does Premiere Pro CC operate and look the same in both the windows and mac versions? I’m a windows person but my boss is thinking about upgrading me to one on the $3k mac pros which look like a very fast computer. I just want the same look and feel on the new mac as on the PC.
also, if I need to export to a windows media file and I’m editing on the MAC, and I’m assuming that Mac CC does not export to WMVs, can I get that edit over to my old PC and export that edit, can they cross over ? thanks, -Chris

    Yes.

    Yes.

Easiest two questions I had all day! 😉

OK then, are the new MAC Pros powerful enough to run CC and render quickly and output fast also? I’m looking at the Apple Mac Pro for $3000. thanks, Chris

Yes they do. But i would not recommend the Mac Pro quite honestly. If you want to go Mac, get the 27″ iMac, that’s the best video editing tool for the Mac right now, especially running PPro.

I’m actually switching our shop from Mac to a hybrid Mac / Windows environment because I’m very underwhelmed by the new Mac Pro. Looking at the HP and MainGear computers.

Been editing on Mac since 1996. We already have our first Dell in the shop and we’ll be adding at least two more PCs before the end of the year.

So, if I stick with a PC, what specs should I get built to speed up the render time and export time and still have the best video quality? thanks !

Regardless of what platform you choose, this might be helpful

You want a lot of RAM, fast CPU and fast GPU or multiple GPUs. Video quality doesn’t have anything to do with the computer. Has everything to do with the original codec the footage is shot in and then the codec you deliver in.

The nice thing about the PCs is they generally have some nice open slots where you can expand your machine later. The Mac Pro is pretty much “what you get is what you get.”

Not sure about the new Mac Pro but my 2008 Mac Pro with Ati 7950 card absolutely flies with PPro CC, 120 min show with lots of colour corrections just took 70 mins to render to Mpeg 2!

I can drop filters on to footage and even adjust some while the clip is playing, I’m very impressed!

It is true. The latest versions of PrP have been much better optimised for Mac
