Premiere Pro CC – Background noise reduction problem for a sequence (and problem in Audition)
OK So I have a sequence which has multiple audio clips.
If I use the ‘Denoiser’ effect in Premiere,as many of you know, there is a small delay before the effect kicks in and randomly the effect varies throughout the sequence.However,if I use the denoiser effect through the ‘Audio track mixer’ panel, the above problem is somewhat reduced,yet in a couple of places the original audio of the clip randomly plays for a second and then denoiser kicks in.
To combat this. I got Adobe Audition..but here are the problems:
1)The noise print capture method is great -BUT you can only apply this to individual clips not to an entire sequence
2)I don’t want to individually add this effect to around say 50 audio clips I want to apply the same effect throughout my sequence
3)If I use ‘Batch processing’ and apply the effect to all clips. I again have to import all of these 50 clips back to Premiere and again put them back in their respective slots on the timeline. This will take ages.
4) Solution ? – Is there anyway to remove background noise in Premiere WITHOUT using denoiser ? Say using only ‘Dynamics’ and ‘EQ’ or ‘Multiband Compression ‘ ?
OR A combination of Denoiser + another effect ?
I’m tired of this problem. I need a solution ASAP.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Two options
1. Make a copy of all production audio, run it through batch processing and relink Premiere’s audio to the location of this newly cleaned audio. Great flexibility for re-editing.
2. In Audition, mix down your multitrack sequence as one stereo (or whatever) pair, apply noise reduction to this master track and re-import. Less flexible for re-edit but faster.

Yes, Waves makes some excellent plugins like the NS1 and WNS but you will not like their price. These are, basically, very advanced multiband expanders tuned for noise removal.

In Audition, you have the ability to select multiple clips in the same track and ‘merge’ them which basically turns them into one clip.

Could you explain in detail what you mean by ‘ mix down your multitrack sequence as one stereo (or whatever) pair, apply noise reduction to this master track and re-import’ ?

I’ve (somewhat) found a decent solution without denoiser.
The background noise can be removed by adjusting the parameters of the Compressor and EQ effects until you get the right mix of noise and vocals.
This can be done by selecting the ‘Compressor-EQ’ preset under ‘Track effects’ and adding it to the track.
