Premiere Pro Automatically crashes after it asks me to relocate media

What happens if:

1) You choose to offline the file?

2) You add the file to a brand new project. Does Premiere Read it? Close Premiere and reload the new project, same issue?

Where did your footage come from? What operating system and Premiere Pro version?

I tried choosing offline and the project file still automatically closes out.

I opened up an auto-saved version of the project file and it opened up fine.

I also open a new project and placed in the GoPro footage and saved it and reopened the new project file and everything worked fine.

I am using Premiere Pro 5.04 with a Macbook Pro 10.8.04 version

I’m thinking that the original project file somehow became corrupt but I don’t know how

Corruption of project files happens every so often. If the auto save works, then great! In the future, importing an old project into a new project solves a lot of similar issues as well.

What do you mean by importing an old project into a new project, I’ve never done this?

Start a new project, go to Menu > File > Import and select your corrupted project file. It will import into your bin as files, folders, and sequences.

Scratch that, I tried importing it into a new project and premiere still crashed

How about ridding your project of the problem clip, i.e. remove all clips of it and remove it from all sequences. Then after checking that your project is stable, reimport the clip and add it back to the sequence. If that fails, convert the clip to another codec. Not that there is anything wrong with the codec but the conversion might remove a corruption.
