Premiere Pro and CPU’s
Hi, I’m about to get a new editing system and getting confused when trying to pick a CPU. I use Adobe Premier Pro 2 and want to support HD. Adobe’s site says the minimum CPU for HD is a dual Intel Xeon 2.8GHz processor. Would a Quad Core Xeon E5320 1.86GHz be sufficient considering the two extra cores?
Also, has anyone used a Dual Core Xeon 5060 3.20GHz? Its a lot less expensive than the quad core. I want to get a “great” processor but don’t want to spend the extra money if its not going to make a huge difference.

Read what adobe and intel writes carefuly, there’s huge amount such kind of info. If you’re to lazy to do that, I’ll tell you, that with PPRO you will not feel any difference is it dual core or xeon, or dual core xeon. PPRO doesn’t support 64 bit transfer yet, when it will – you’ll fell the difference between new intel cpu’s. If you’re not working with 3d software and minimal with AE or similar, but you want to edit HD I would suggest you to buy what adobe recommends, even if you wouldn’t be great and new at cpu. And remember, that not everything depends on cpu.
