Premiere Pro 2014 CC Issues – Importing MOV, Audio dropouts
Posted by Dennis Tzeng on July 13, 2014 at 7:46 amJust installed the latest version and it seems like they didn’t actually test the program because it has some major issues and I have hardly even played around with it yet.
First you can’t import MOV’s with alpha channels. Same project in previous CC version could do it but the new one refuses to import the same exact file.
Second the playback performance is terrible especially with audio, audio drop outs left and right. Previous version of CC could playback with no issue.
I’m sure I’ll find more bugs that weren’t there before.
Looks like I’m going to go back to the previous version until they actually QA this latest version.

July 13, 2014 at 11:27 amHi Dennis,
Sounds like you have some problems but it’s not because we didn’t test the product ahead of time!
[Dennis Tzeng] ”
First you can’t import MOV’s with alpha channels. Same project in previous CC version could do it but the new one refuses to import the same exact file.”I quickly rendered out a QT file with alpha and brought it into Premiere Pro. It worked just fine. In fact, we added a transparency grid option just like AE for Premiere Pro 2014.
[Dennis Tzeng] “Second the playback performance is terrible especially with audio, audio drop outs left and right. Previous version of CC could playback with no issue.”
Again, there are no problems generally with playing back audio and performance. Also, posting with some basic system specs is much more helpful in getting a response.
Here are a couple of tips to try:
1 – clear your media cache
2 – trash your preferences
3 – If applicable, update your graphics drivers to the latest
4 – If problems still persist, use this link to help you uninstall and reinstall the applications affectedHTH,

July 13, 2014 at 5:17 pmHi Dennis, thanks for replying.
I was able to import the MOV, what it was is that when relocating the file with link media it wouldn’t import it. Not as big a bug as not being able to import but still a bug.
My graphics driver is fully up to date but still getting audio dropouts (as are many people, look in the Adobe forums under Premiere Pro).
My system is a Windows 7 machine with an i7 2,67 ghz CPU and 12 gigs of RAM.
Graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 with 2 gigs of RAM.
I cleared the media cache and preferences but still having issues.

July 13, 2014 at 9:38 pmAlso Adobe Media Encoder is taking forever to load. Used to load up fairly quickly now I have to wait.
In general everything is much slower and less responsive. Premiere itself crashes much more and also takes longer to load.
Anyone else having these same issues?

July 14, 2014 at 4:56 pmI have not seen any of these issues but there are several things that can cause it. I will tell you that 12GB of ram and the 640GT card is likely not helping your cause. You really should get a 760GTX card and more ram. What model CPU do you have? What is your drive setup? Are you using an external drive to work directly from?

July 14, 2014 at 8:37 pmI know the specs aren’t the greatest however with the last version of CC (pre-2014) I had no issues with the playback like I am now with the exact same setup.

September 13, 2014 at 7:17 pmI realize this thread is 3 months old but I am experiencing problems with .MOV files in Premiere Pro CC 2014 as well. Once dropped in a sequence it takes a couple of minutes before I can start playback. No problems with the same files in Premiere Pro CC. Seeing a lot of “media pending” in the Program monitor. Working on a simple project is taking way too long.

December 1, 2014 at 11:54 amDid you install the latest QT codec? Or you can have a try to start a new project to import your MOV videos into Premiere. I met this problem before, after upgrading my QT to latest version, my mov videos can be opended in Premiere without problem. If you still encounter problem, you are advised to change MOV to MPEG-2 since the most compatible video format for Premiere is MPEG-2.
