    Hi,

XENA HS is a dual rate SD and HD card, that has Native support in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. This means that for any uncompressed SD or HD video I/O, the HS support is integrated directly within PP2.0, without the need for additional software setups, etc. This native support was co-developed by Adobe and AJA.

Cineform’s ProspectHD also works on the XENA HS card, for use of their very efficient and clean compressed HD codec, to achieve more RT and lower disk usage while still getting on-line quality HD video. Cineform has also recently qualified the XENA LH card for use with Prospect HD.

The XENA LH, XENA LS, and the XENA 2K whith the soon to be released v2 software (available May 31) have “homegrown” AJA-built PP2.0 support, as well unique support for After Effects, Photoshop, Eyeon Fusion, and Autodesk Combustion. This new support gives you unparalleled uncompressed file format support (QUICKTIME, AVI, DPX, CINEON, TGA, TIFF, BMP, on LH and 2K cards, and QUICKTIME, AVI, TGA, TIFF, BMP, on LS), allowing even mixing and matching of different file formats on one timeline, with RT color effects (LH, 2K) and much more.

    Hi LightPrism,

Actually PPro v2 does have project settings right out of the box for “Adobe HDV” native (editing MPEGTS, FW I/O) and what they call “Adobe HD-SDI”. The Adobe HD-SDI (and SD-SDI) settings are designed to work with a Xena HS card as AJA Sales mentions…

I have a Xena LH and with the released drivers (which have AE and Photoshop support built in, though they will look for AE v6.5, so you’ll have to force them or drag them into the proper plug in folder for AE 7)…you can get the board to work with Ppro’s native SDI HD/SD modes if you run Machina (Pronounced “Mach”-in-a like the speed of sound, not like “machine” as I was informed…) you can get output from PPro v2, but the upcoming drivers will make it a direct relationship with AJA project settings.

There are always more features I’d like to see between CineForm and AJA beyond just I/O, but we need to give it some time as obviously both products are sophisticated and optimized in their own right at the moment…

…time will tell, but I think he possibilities are tantalizing…

Thanks Tim for the clarifications. So the Mach(k)ina is basically the capture software in the current version and the potential for PPro2 capture with upcoming driver release, right? Look forward to hearing about the functionality improvements of the new upcoming drivers for the LH/e. Building a new box shortly and am leaning toward the Xena LHe as it appears to have the best capability to price ratio for what we’re looking for:

    -HDV editing Canon H1 24f, 30f, 60i
-SDI HD/SD ingest and edit off the Canon H1 – using Prospect HD (Ingest level)

I only wished there was a way to then use the ingested files in Edius and their HQ codec as we’ve been quite happy with the speed/stability of Edius. We stopped AP 6.5 and will have to go thru the learning curve of PremPro … but with the nice integration of all the Adobe progs now, it’s something I need to do anyway.

Looking into a machine that has both a XenaLHe and Canopus NX card with separate profiles…

    Hi,

Machina is a stand-alone capture/playback to/from VTR/disk application, for users of programs that do not have these abilities built-in (graphics apps, etc.). The upcoming XENA v2 software offers powerful PP2.0 capabilties, which of course include capture, etc. within Premiere. v2 will be available for download May 31 at http://www.aja.com.

    Thank you,

Does Xena LH cards allow capture to and editing of DVCPRO HD Codec in Premiere Pro 2.0?
