  Premiere Pro 2.0 running SLOW…Captured video files too big

  I am getting back to a project I am working on in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and it is running slow. My concern is the file sizes. I was wondering if there is a way I can edit the video files into smaller videos without having to export to new files? I captured analog video and while some files are not too long there are many that are a big big and I think this may be an issue. Premiere takes forever to open and editing takes forever. I also am having problems working with these files in After Effects. Help Please! Thanks in advance!
