Premiere Pro 2.0 Crashes when I use the timeline – is it cuz of my new GeForce 6600?
Hey Guys, I haven’t been able to find an answer for this yet. As you can guess it is frustrating. Premiere Pro 1.5 worked well and I had no trouble.
I have since upgraded to 2.0 and captured a lot of footage, no problem. But then I started editing on the timeline, you know, like normal, and experience frequent blackscreens that come back within a few seconds, temporary system hangs and all out freezes where the computer just completely locks up.
What is causing this?
I don’t know a whole lot about hardware but since I stopped using pro 1.5 and got pro 2.0 I did upgrade my graphics card. Let me list my specs. Oh and I am running XP with zone alarm pro and norton 2k6 so I rule out malicious programs.

1.00 gig Ram
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
NVIDIA GeForce 6600Well thats about it. I dunno the make of the motherboard but. I guess now that I think about it I did change the graphics card.. but.. BLEH.
So, please help me because I really want to EDIT MY VIDEO!!! Don’t we all? Lol

My friend said it may have something to do with the fact that i edit off of my slave hard drive and that in 2.0 you have to edit off of your master… is this true?

Can you please be more specific? Do you mean that there is some stigma that I shouldnt talk about it on this forum? Or do you mean that yes I should not have the footage on my slave drive. Can you please respond with clarification? I’m gonna search for slave master now on this forum but. I really want to get this dealt with.

The slave/master relationship for hard drives should be a thing of the past. Drives should be configured (jumpers) to Cable Select and of course be connected with 80 wire cables. Best approach is to have the system drive and a DVD ROM on the primary channel and one or two drives on the secondary.
The thing that sticks out in your post is Norton…it is evil. Get a priest and get rid of it!

is article is getting pretty old, but it might be the best explanation for why you want SATA drives. Sorry I was so cryptic. As Mike pointed out, it isn’t the terminology, it is sharing the cable that is the problem. Also avoid thinking that partitioned drives help. They don’t.
